Zhang’s Family Disagrees With Sentence
(Peoria County, IL) — The family of Yingying Zhang says it disagrees with the sentence imposed on Brendt Christensen. The jury that convicted Christensen in Yingying’s kidnapping and murder was unable to reach a unanimous decision on imposing the death penalty for his crimes. Christensen was instead sentenced to life in prison without parole. After the sentence was imposed, the Zhangs pleaded with Christensen through a translator to reveal the location of their daughter’s remains.
