Head Of Republican Group Apologizes For ‘Jihad Squad’ Facebook Post
(Lake Forest, IL) — The head of an Illinois Republican group is saying “sorry” for a posting on its Facebook page that called four Democrat congresswomen the “Jihad Squad.” The U.S. representatives who are nicknamed “The Squad” are Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rashida Tlaib, Ayanna Pressley and Ilhan Omar, who have been in the spotlight thanks to recent tweets from President Trump. Mark Shaw, the president of the Republican County Chairmen’s Association of Illinois, said on Sunday that the image that was posted was not authorized by him and was an unfortunate distraction from the serious debate surrounding the policies advocated by the four congresswomen, whom he called socialists.
