Gov. Pritzker Signs FAFSA Bill
(Decatur, IL) — A bill increasing FAFSA applications and access to federal student aid is now state law. Governor Pritzker signed the measure at Eisenhower High School in Decatur on Friday. The bill requires that all high school graduates complete and submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid. State Senator Andy Manar sponsored the bill after statistics showed that a little over half of Illinois high school students fill out a FASFA application. The requirement goes into effect during the 2020-2021 school year, though some students may be able to opt out under certain provisions.
