This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of east central and southeast Illinois, generally south of a Taylorville to Paris line including Christian-Clark-Clay-Coles-Crawford-Cumberland-Douglas-Edgar-Effingham-Jasper-Lawrence-Moultrie-Richland and Shelby counties.
DAY ONE…TODAY AND TONIGHT…
Heat index values will reach the mid to upper 90s across much of the area today. Isolated thunderstorms are possible this afternoon, mainly from around I-57 westward. These are not expected to be severe.
DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN…WEDNESDAY THROUGH MONDAY…
Unseasonably warm conditions are expected Tuesday through Thursday, with afternoon heat index values well into the 90s each day. Thunderstorms will move across the area Thursday night. While severe weather is currently not expected, locally heavy rain is possible.
