The driver killed in the crash on I-70 yesterday has been identified as 68-year-old James Barnes, Jr., of Lawrenceville, Georgia. According to the Illinois State Police, vehicles driven by Barnes, Stephen Long, of Saint Thomas, Pennsylvania, and Corey Meyer, of Crocket, Missouri were stopped in the right lane due to traffic being backed up before the construction zone when a pickup driven by Billy Barksdale, of Gene Autry, Oklahoma rear-ended the Barnes vehicle. Barnes was then shoved into Long’s trailer, and Long’s vehicle was shoved into Meyer’s tractor-trailer. Barnes died at the scene. Barksdale was ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
