CDC Activates Emergency Operations Center Over Vaping-Related Illnesses
(Washington, DC) — The CDC is activating its Emergency Operations Center in response to vaping-related illnesses across the U.S. In a statement today, the CDC says it’s making it a “priority to find out what is causing this outbreak of e-cigarette or vaping-related injuries and deaths.” This comes after at least six people have died and hundreds have been hospitalized for serious lung injury associated with e-cigarette use. The CDC and the Food and Drug Administration are recommending that people who use vaping or e-cigarette products quit until the investigation is complete.
