Lawmakers Calling For Stricter University President Severance Laws
(Springfield, IL) — Lawmakers in Springfield are calling for stricter laws regarding severance payouts for university presidents. University trustees say severances that have reached the mid-six figures in some cases are a necessary evil. The case of Southern Illinois University President Randy Dunn is being used as a test case. He received 215-thousand dollar payouts, but if he’d taken his case to court and won for termination without cause, the cost would have been over a million dollars.
