Generic Zantac Recalled Over Cancer Concerns
(Deerfield, IL) — A popular heartburn drug is being pulled from shelves. Some generic versions of Zantac could be linked to cancer. Drugmaker Apotex announced a recall today after carcinogens were found in the pills. The boxes were sold over-the-counter at Walgreens, Walmart and Rite Aid. Other drug makers have also announced recalls or stopped distribution. U.S. health officials are still determining how the pills became contaminated.
