Diahann Carroll Dead At 84

(Los Angeles, CA) — Fans are mourning the loss of ground breaking actress and singer Diahann Carroll. She died at the age of 84 today at her Los Angeles-area home after a long bout with cancer. She is best known for her role as Julia Baker, a widowed nurse raising a young son on the comedy Julia. Carroll was the first black woman to star in a non-servant role in a TV series.
