Meeting Set Between ISU Administrators, Black Students
(Normal, IL) — A meeting is set for tomorrow between Illinois State University administrators and black student representatives. The meeting follows allegations by black students that the university is not committed to diversity and inclusion. A march on campus happened October 7th after the Black Homecoming Committee ran into problems scheduling an event. A flood of social media posts with the hashtag AntiBlackISU followed. Organizers say the problem reaches beyond homecoming to issues with roommate conflicts, unequal treatment of black student groups, and microaggressions in classes.
