According to Illinois State Police, a traffic crash resulting in injuries occurred Friday Morning in Champaign County near milepost 178 on I-72 eastbound. Preliminary details state that a 2015 Blue Kenworth being driven by James H. Potter of Frenchburg, Kentucky was traveling eastbound along I-72. Potter exited the roadway to the left and struck a guardrail, over-corrected across both lanes and crashed into the right guardrail, and the overpass, causing a trailer that was in tow to be torn open and the contents to spill onto the roadway. Potter ended up in the right ditch, overturned. Potter was then transported to a hospital with minor injuries, and has been charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, improper lane usage.
