Proposed Ban On Medical Equipment Cleaner Sparks Controversy
(Springfield, IL) — A proposed ban on a chemical used to sterilize medical equipment is sparking controversy. Some lawmakers want to phase out the use of Ethylene Oxide because emissions are considered carcinogenic. The Illinois Chamber of Commerce is against banning the chemical. Many Illinois hospitals have moved away from using the chemical completely.
