Carol “Jane” Seely, 83, of Cowden, IL passed away at 2:44 a.m. on Friday, December 20, 2019 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL.
Jane was born on November 4, 1936, in Cowden, the daughter of William and Bunea (Lape) Peifer. She was a 1954 graduate of Cowden High School. Jane and Jack Seely Sr were united in holy matrimony on August 22, 1954 and from that union they were blessed with five children: Elizabeth, Pamela, Jack Jr, Lanny and Shelly. Jane’s family was her pride and joy.
Surviving are her children: Elizabeth (Gene) Pruemer of Teutopolis, Pamela (Dale) Mahaffey of Cowden, Jack Seely Jr of Cowden, Lanny Seely of Tower Hill and Shelly (Tim) Day of Beecher City; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers: Bill Peifer of Overland Park, KS, Don (Linda Sue) Thompson of Cowden, Gene Thompson of Herrick, Jim Thompson of Beecher City, Harvey (Ruth Ann) Thompson of Forsyth, John (Janet) Thompson of Cowden, Dean (Jan) Thompson of Herrick and Ed (Becki) Thompson of Cowden; sisters: Helen Prater of Decatur and Rose Bartels of Illiopolis.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandchild: Douglas Mahaffey; brothers: Charles Peifer and Joe Thompson; sister: Shirley Ann Hadley; sisters-in-law: Elizabeth Peifer and Karen Rose Thompson; brothers-in-law: Dale Prater and Bob Bartels.
Family graveside services will be held. Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Cowden is assisting the family.
