Illinois Ag Boss: Marijuana Demand Will Outstrip Supply
(Quincy, IL) — The first days, or even months, of Illinois’ new recreational marijuana program could be tricky. Illinois Department of Agriculture Director John Sullivan on Friday told a crowd in Quincy that he expects demand for legal pot to be much larger than the supply. Sullivan says it takes at least six months for recreational marijuana businesses to get up and running. He says there are only 18 places in the entire state that are licensed, or in the process of getting a marijuana license. Legal marijuana sales in Illinois start on January 1st.
