FLOOD WATCH NOW IN EFFECT FROM FRIDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH SATURDAY AFTERNOON…
The Flood Watch is now in effect for
* Portions of east central Illinois and southeast Illinois, including the following areas, in east central Illinois, Champaign, Clark, Coles, Cumberland, Douglas, Edgar, and Vermilion. In southeast Illinois, Clay, Crawford, Effingham, Jasper, Lawrence, and Richland.
* From Friday afternoon through Saturday afternoon
* Rain will develop across the area on Thursday and Thursday night. Heavier rain will to move in from the southwest Friday afternoon and evening, and continue into Saturday afternoon. Widespread rain totals of 3 to 4 inches, with locally higher amounts, are possible.
* The forecast rain amounts could lead to flooding of low lying areas which could impact some roads. In addition, minor urban flooding is possible, especially where storm drains are obstructed. Rises on area rivers and streams are possible, which may lead to flooding.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts. You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
