(Boston, MA) — Alex Cora is out as the manager of the Boston Red Sox. The team released a statement saying the two sides have agreed to mutually part ways. The announcement comes after Major League Baseball implicated Cora in the Houston Astros’ sign-stealing scandal. He was Houston’s bench coach in 2017 when the Astros won the World Series and is awaiting punishment for his role in the scheme. Cora is also being looked at for another alleged sign-stealing scheme during the 2018 season when he led the Red Sox to a World Series title as manager.
