Votes In 2018 Sheriff Election To Be Recounted By Hand

(Decatur, IL) — Votes in the November 2018 Macon County Sheriff’s election are set to be recounted by hand. The move comes after a lengthy legal battle between current Sheriff Tony Brown and Lieutenant Jim Root. Brown won the contest by one vote and both parties have been litigating the outcome since 2018. The Macon County Clerk will be conducting the recount during the next several weeks.
