The National Weather Service has issued several hazardous weather outlooks for our Illinois listening area. There are three statements below, just look for your county. Here’s what the NWS is forecasting as of 11:32am on Tuesday, February 4, 2020.
#1 Hazardous Weather Outlook for Coles-Douglas-Edgar-Moultrie and Shelby counties
DAY ONE…TODAY AND TONIGHT… A weather system will bring a mix of rain and snow to central Illinois late this afternoon, becoming a wintry mix tonight. Minor snow and ice accumulations are possible, resulting in scattered slick spots.
DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN…WEDNESDAY THROUGH MONDAY… After a brief break in the weather Wednesday morning, accumulating snow and ice will return to the area Wednesday afternoon and continue through Wednesday night. Snow accumulations of 1-3 inches will be possible, along with up to a tenth of an inch of ice. This will result in snow and ice covered roads, especially during the Wednesday evening commute.
SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT… Spotter activation is not anticipated through tonight.
#2 Hazardous Weather Outlook for Crawford-Lawrence and Richland Counties
DAY ONE…TODAY AND TONIGHT… A weather system will continue to bring rain to the area this afternoon, with a change to a wintry mix tonight. Minor ice accumulations are possible, resulting in scattered slick spots.
DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN…WEDNESDAY THROUGH MONDAY… After a brief break in the weather Wednesday morning, rain will return to the area for Wednesday afternoon through Wednesday night. The precipitation could change to a wintry mix late Wednesday night before ending. Minor ice accumulations are possible, which could result in scattered slick spots, especially on untreated surfaces.
SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT… Spotter activation is not anticipated through tonight.
#3 Hazardous Weather Outlook for Clark-Clay-Cumberland-Effingham and Jasper counties
DAY ONE…TODAY AND TONIGHT… A weather system will bring rain to the area this afternoon, with a change to a wintry mix tonight. Minor ice accumulations are possible, resulting in scattered slick spots.
DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN…WEDNESDAY THROUGH MONDAY… After a brief break in the weather Wednesday morning, accumulating snow and ice will return to the area Wednesday afternoon and continue through Wednesday night. Snow accumulations of less than an inch, along with around one tenth of an inch of ice is possible. This will result in snow and ice covered roads, especially during the Wednesday evening commute.
