New Bill Proposes Mental Health Days For Students
(Springfield, IL) — A new Illinois Senate bill would require public schools to provide students five sick days per year for mental and behavioral health reasons. Some lawmakers feel the bill could leave students in crisis home alone with no resources to help them. Others say the days off could be used to access resources that could help students in need. Several mental health experts say mental health and sick days should be considered one and the same to avoid stigma.
