Jury Finds Man Guilty Of Attempted Murder After Home Invasion
(Moultrie County, IL) — A Mattoon man is facing sentencing after being convicted of attempted murder during a home invasion in Sullivan. A jury found 33-year-old Alvan Booths guilty on two counts of attempted murder and one count of home invasion. Prosecutors say Booths entered the home of Otha Phillips and Holley Simmons, where he shot Phillips in the neck and tried to shoot Simmons. He is set to be sentenced April 7th.
