Trump Commutes Blagojevich Sentence; Pardons Kerik
(Joint Base Andrews, MD) — President Trump is commuting the prison sentence of former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich. Talking with reporters at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland, Trump also announced that he has pardoned former New York Police Commissioner Bernie Kerik. Blagojevich was sentenced to 14 years in prison in late 2011 on charges of extortion and corruption. He was a contestant on Trump’s reality TV show, “Celebrity Apprentice.” Kerik pleaded guilty to felony charges involving tax fraud and making false statements to federal investigators. Kerik served about three years in prison.
