
(Charleston), IL – Coles County Health Department is saddened to announce the death of One additional Coles County resident with COVID-19. The individual was a resident at Charleston Rehab and Healthcare facility. We would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and Charleston Rehab and Healthcare. We ask for respect and privacy as they mourn the loss of their loved one in this very difficult time.
Coles County Health Department and Mattoon Rehabilitation and Health Care Center announces one confirmed case associated with their facility.
(Charleston), IL Coles County Health Department, (CCHD) was notified today of Five additional laboratory confirmed COVID-19 cases. Our total confirmed COVID-19 laboratory case count for Coles County is One-Hundred and Thirty-Six with Three currently hospitalized, Ninety-Five recovered, Seventeen deceased, and Twenty-One recovering. Coles County Health Department (CCHD) continues vigilant contact tracing following Illinois Department of Public Health protocol and guidance.
To date, the total cases associated with Charleston Rehab and Healthcare is Eighty-Two confirmed cases. The total Eighty-Two confirmed cases includes residents and employees. Not all of the Charleston Rehab and Healthcare employees live in Coles County.
CCHD does not regularly identify the names of long-term care facilities with outbreaks of communicable diseases. However, in partnership with Charleston Rehab and Healthcare, Mattoon Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, the CCHD is identifying these facilities to assist with communications to the community and family members of residents. Coles County Health Department continues to be in direct communication with IDPH and the long-term care facilities.

Mattoon Rehabilitation and Health Care Center wants to inform you that we have received confirmation that an employee at Mattoon Rehabilitation and Health Care Center has been diagnosed with COVID-19. Per our protocol, this employee has been removed from the facility and will not return until all established criteria to do so are met.
Resident safety is our top priority. We are doing everything we can to ensure we stop the spread of COVID-19 within Mattoon Rehabilitation and Heath Care Center, including staying in very close communication with local and state health officials to ensure we are taking all the appropriate steps. We are not permitting visitors per the direction of the local health department.
We encourage you to call our community at 217-235-7138 for updates on the status of your loved one. We understand that you are concerned about your loved one, but it is crucial that we restrict visitation to reduce the spread of this virus. We also understand that connecting with family members is incredibly important to our residents. Family members are encouraged to connect with their loved ones through video chat, calling, texting, or other social media formats.
