The First National Bank has always been committed to the Mattoon Community, supporting several organizations every year. Recent events are no exception as this community navigates the rules and regulations of the pandemic lockdown.
In recent weeks, the bank has processed over 70 applications for the Payroll Protection Program to assist small business with meeting payroll.
Now, in a partnership with the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago and their Covid-19 Relief Program, The First National Bank has awarded $20,000 in grants to 5 different non-profit organizations serving the Mattoon community. Each grant was for $4,000.
The First National Bank CEO Preston Smith said, “We are happy about our partnership with the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago. With their grant, we were able to assist several important organizations in the Mattoon community.”
President John Covington stated, “As a vital member of this community, we feel it is important to give back to our friends and customers during this challenging time. We must work together to get through this.”
Organizations receiving $4,000 were:
Mattoon Veterans of Foreign Wars
Mattoon Moose Lodge
Mattoon Eagles
Mattoon YMCA
Mattoon Public Library
Smith concluded, “While we are pleased to do our part, the truth is that many of these organizations need additional financial assistance. We encourage others to donate to these organizations and many more when they can, so they can continue to provide their valuable service and outreach.”
