An Illinois lawmaker wants history lessons in public schools suspended. Democratic State Representative La Shawn Ford says lessons need to be more inclusive of the contributions made by minorities and women. Ford said yesterday that current classes “lead to white privilege and a racist society.” He is sponsoring a bill to create new teaching practices in the state’s public schools.
