Car Crash in Fayette County Kills One

One person was killed in a crash in Fayette County yesterday afternoon. According to the Illinois State Police, a vehicle driven by 75-year-old Burl Prater, of Vandalia was westbound on Main Street near County Road 600 East when he left the roadway for unknown reasons, overturned and came to rest in a creek bed. Prater died at the scene. A passenger, 52-year-old Patricia Bales was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
