An accident on I-57 in Effingham County claimed the life of a Pennsylvania man yesterday. According to the Illinois State Police, 66-year-old Richard Dreher was southbound near milepost 158 when he left the roadway, and struck a concrete sign. He then came back across the southbound lanes and left the roadway again, coming to a rest in the ditch. He was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. Authorities say he may have suffered a medical emergency prior to the crash. The accident remains under investigation.
