According to ABC news, Lovie Smith’s son was indicted on sex trafficking charges. The Arizona Attorney General’s office issued a press release, accusing Mikal Smith, the former assistant coach for the Bears, and Aprel Mae Ramussen of operating and maintaining an illegal prostitution enterprise between December 2018 and September 2019. Smith had reportedly been using surveillance and threats of retaliation to keep the victim under control. It’s unclear how many victims were involved.
The full list of indicted charges against Mikal Smith include: conspiracy, illegally conducting an enterprise, money laundering in the first degree, pandering, receiving earnings of a prostitute, sex trafficking, and threatening or intimidating.
His co-defendant was also indicted on counts of conspiracy, money laundering, pandering, and illegally conducting an enterprise.
