For Immediate Release – September 18, 2020
The Coles County Clerk’s office has been inundated today, Friday, September 18, 2020, with phone calls concerning the letter from the Illinois Secretary of State Office. County Clerk Julie Coe says her office did not mail this letter even though her office contact information is on it.
While the letter states “Your local election authority had indicated that you have not yet applied for a ballot…”, that may not be accurate. The Coles County Clerk’s office encourages any citizen that has completed and mailed us a Vote-By-Mail Application to not be concerned.
Vote-By-Mail Ballots will be mailed out September 24th. If you do not receive your ballot by October 8th, you should contact the office.
Coe also states that you absolutely can still vote at your precinct location on November 3, 2020 or you can opt to Early Vote at either the Coles County Clerk’s Office or the Mattoon Salvation Army beginning September 24, 2020.
