Capitals’ Lundqvist To Undergo Open Heart Surgery

(Washington, DC) — Washington Capitals goalie Henrik Lundqvist is set to undergo open heart surgery. The 38-year-old netminder announced on Twitter Monday he will have the procedure just weeks after revealing he was stepping away from hockey to deal with a serious heart condition. Lundqvist signed a one-year contract with the Caps this offseason after reaching a buyout with the Rangers. He spent his first 15 seasons in New York. Lundqvist currently ranks sixth all-time with 459 career victories.
