Illinois VA Director Leaving Amid Scandal
(Springfield, IL) — The top woman at the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs is leaving under a cloud. Linda Chapa LaVia submitted her resignation yesterday. She is leaving after 36 people died from the coronavirus after an outbreak at the veterans’ home in LaSalle. Governor Pritzker has appointed a major general in the Air National Guard to take over at the VA until a permanent director can be found.
