Reba McEntire returns to the big screen in the new comedy Barb & Star. She plays supernatural sea goddess named Trish in the film. Barb & Star stars Kristen Wiig and her Bridemaids co-writer, Annie Mumolo.
Reba's cameo was a surprise to film viewers as it was not announced before the movie was released last weekend. She told USA Today, “I know you’re going to be surprised, but this is the first time I’ve ever played a sea spirit.”
Kristen and Annie reportedly had Reba specifically in mind when they wrote the part. She joined the cast in Cancun where the movie was being shot and had a ball with the cast and crew. Reba said, “Everyone knows somebody like Barb and Star. They’re very real, it’s priceless. I laughed my butt off.”
