- His dad nicknamed him Bocephus after a ventriloquist dummy that belonged to Grand Ole Opry member Rod Brasfield.
- After losing his dad at the young age of 3, Hank Williams Jr was encouraged by his mother to continue in his father’s footsteps. Hank Jr continued to cover his father’s songs and tour with many of Hank Sr’s close musician friends before going off on his own.
- He was severely injured from a near-fatal fall of over 500 feet while climbing Ajax Mountain in Montana in 1975. It took him two years to recover and now he wears a beard and sunglasses to hide the scars.
- He is an avid hunter.
- Hank Jr is a multi-instrumentalist. He can play guitar, bass guitar, upright bass, steel guitar, banjo, dobro, piano, keyboards, harmonica, fiddle, and drums.
