Associated Fire Fighters of IL Endorse Nikki Budzinski in IL13 Democratic Primary

Springfield, IL – Today, the Associated Fire Fighters of Illinois (AFFI) announced their endorsement of Nikki Budzinski in the IL-13 Democratic primary. The AFFI organizes, supports, advocates, and promotes the interests of professional union fire fighters and EMS providers in Illinois.

The Associated Fire Fighters of Illinois’ endorsement is the latest in a broad coalition of support that Budzinski is building, including Rep. Cheri Bustos, Rep. Jan Schakowsky, UFCW Local 881, IBEW Locals 51, 146, 193, 309, 601 and 649, Pastor Ray McJunkins, the Lead Pastor of Union Baptist Church in Springfield, State Representative Katie Stuart, Sangamon County Democratic Chairman Bill Houlihan, Christian County Democratic Chairman Ben Curtin, Jersey County Democratic Chairman Mark Pohlman, Calhoun County Democratic Chairman Paul “Snow” Herkert, and Macoupin County Democrats Chairwoman Pam Monetti.

Chuck Sullivan, AFFI President said: “It is critical that the AFFI has leadership in Congress that understands our legislative priorities and listens to our interests. We know Nikki Budzinski will be there for us and advocate for our members. That is why we are happy to support her in the Democratic Primary. ”

Budzinski made the following statement: “I was proud to work for the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) as an advocate for fire fighters and EMS workers to ensure they had the proper equipment and training to do their jobs. It’s critical we have leaders in Congress that will fight every day to make sure our frontline workers like fire fighters and EMS workers have what they need to do their job.”
