Florida Student Arrested In Connection with Discredited Social Media Threat
(Jacksonville, IL) — Superintendent Steve Ptacek says a Florida student has been arrested in connection with a social media threat initially believed to be against Jacksonville High School in Illinois. The threat of gun violence went viral this week and included a blurry screenshot that seemed to include the letters JHS. Ptacek says the name attached to the original image is not associated with the Illinois high school and was deemed not credible. This is the second non-credible viral shooting threat this week, with the first targeting the high schools in the U.S. that share the name Central High School.
