SACIS Partners with MTU #13, Illinois State Police, for Community Anti-Human Trafficking Training During Sexual Assault Awareness Month
Charleston, IL… The Sexual Assault Counseling and Information Service (SACIS) has joined with the East Central Illinois Mobile Law Enforcement Training Team MTU #13 and the Illinois State Police Central Illinois Human Trafficking Task Force to conduct a free, public training informing citizens and area professionals on the realities of human trafficking. Attendees can expect to learn how to identify the crime, how it may present in our community, and gain expertise on developing trauma-informed responses through presentations on recent trafficking cases in the state of Illinois.
Human trafficking is the fastest growing criminal enterprise in the world: it is a $150 billion a year global industry and 4.8 million people working in forced labor are estimated to be sexually exploited. This training will take place on Friday, April 15th, 2022 from 8AM-5PM at Maranatha Baptist Church, 3400 Dewitt Avenue, in Mattoon, IL. To register, individuals can call (217) 345-3344, email ecimlett@gmail.com or visit https://mtu13.com/training-schedule.
This training is ideal for law enforcement, probation officers, teachers, educators, administrators, anti-violence advocates, and medical professionals, but all are welcome to participate. More than 400,000 people are enslaved in the United States today through human trafficking. Join SACIS, our local law enforcement, and a panel of professional presenters to learn how you can get involved in ending sexual violence and trafficking in East Central Illinois.
