Hour House ROSC Council Program expands into additional counties
Charleston, IL: Hour House today announced their Recovery Outreach Program known as Recovery Orientated Systems of Care (ROSC) will expand into three additional counties, now being able to serve Clark, Edgar, and Moultrie counties in addition to the currently served counties of Coles, Cumberland, Douglas, Effingham, and Shelby Counties.
ROSC Program Increases Quality of Resources to the Communities We Live In
“A ROSC is a coordinated network of community-based services and supports that is person-centered and builds on the strengths and resiliencies of individuals, families, and communities to achieve abstinence and improved health, wellness, and quality of life for those with or at risk of alcohol and drug problems.” (SAMSHA, 2010).
Hour House organizes and operates the East Central Illinois ROSC Councils through the Illinois Department of Human Services, Division of Substance Use Prevention and Recovery grant. Important to the success of a ROSC Council is the involvement of persons in recovery, their families, and the community to continuously enhance access to and quality of Substance Use Disorder treatment and recovery services. The ROSC principle is to create a system of care that effectively addresses the entire scope of substance use concerns within our communities. East Central Illinois ROSC Councils work with its’ members to plan, structure, manage and advocate for methods that will work best in the individual communities served.
Hour House Plans to Hire 12 Additional Staff with Expansion
Hour House seeks to hire 6 ROSC Council Recovery Navigators and 6 ROSC Council Coordinators to help develop a supportive community response to those recovering from substance use disorders (SUD) within the ROSC Council service area.
Recovery Navigators are persons with at least 2 years uninterrupted recovery who foster a strong relationship with local recoverees and community stakeholders. Through peer support, they will assist in navigating social services, educational institutions, family re-engagement, and employment opportunities.
ROSC Council Coordinators are grassroots organizers who assess the communities’ substance abuse recovery issues with stakeholders from the area through a community survey to find solutions and strengthen supports. ROSC Council Coordinators will work directly with community members, stakeholders, and peers to develop strategic goals to help reduce barriers and increase recovery resources within the communities where we live.
