Mike James Memorial Scholarship awarded to three Mattoon High School graduates

MATTOON, Illinois – June 12, 2023) T.J. Owens, Riley Spencer and Chase Woodard have been named the 2023 recipients of the Mike James Memorial Scholarship. T.J. Owens plans to attend Illinois State University, Riley Spencer will attend Eastern Illinois University and Chase Woodard plans to attend Lake Land College. The Mike James Memorial Scholarship was established in 2002 by Mattoon resident, Lorri James, in honor of her late husband and is awarded each year to an MHS senior football player. Scholarship recipients are voted on by a selection committee each year.
