Eastern Illinois Foodbank Partners With Champaign Asphalt Company to Ask Community to Double Their Impact During Hunger Action Month
URBANA, IL – August 31, 2023 – During Hunger Action Month® this September, Eastern Illinois Foodbank (EIF) joins Feeding America and other network member food banks to inspire people to take action and raise awareness of more than 100,000 neighbors in eastern Illinois facing hunger.
Locally, with generous support from Champaign Asphalt Company, donations made to Eastern Illinois Foodbank through September 30 will provide twice as many meals to the communities EIF serves across 18 counties. Champaign Asphalt Company has pledged to match donations during Hunger Action Month up to $20,000, with a goal of raising $40,000 in honor of the Foodbank’s 40th year of alleviating hunger.
“Support from Champaign Asphalt Company during our capital campaign was instrumental in helping us achieve our goal and expand our facility,” said Foodbank President & CEO Kelly Daly. “As we continue to see an elevated need in eastern Illinois, we’re grateful that our friends at Champaign Asphalt are providing a simple and impactful way for our community to take action and join us in alleviating hunger.”
During the month of September, people across eastern Illinois can get involved in the movement by learning, committing, and speaking up about ways to end hunger.

September marks the 16th year Feeding America, the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization, has organized the annual call to action. This year’s campaign highlights that every action—big or small—is one step closer to an America where no one is hungry and encourages everyone to join in the movement to end hunger.
