Rep. Adam Niemerg: Chicago Democrats double down on the soft on crime policies making our communities less safe
Dieterich, IL – Enforcing Illinois’ vehicle code would be illegal under new soft on crime legislation Chicago Democrats are pushing, according to State Representative Adam Niemerg (R-Dieterich).
House Bill 4603 would make it illegal for Illinois police officers to pull over drivers for a number of traffic offenses including, but not limited, to speeding and improper lane usage, unless the offenses warrant a misdemeanor or felony offense such as going 26 miles per hour or more above the posted speed limit. Additionally, no evidence from a traffic stop could be used at a trial even if the driver consented to a vehicle search.
“Essentially, if someone is transporting stolen goods such as firearms or illegal drugs, that evidence could not be admitted in a court proceeding,” Niemerg said. “The kind of lawlessness a bill like this will create is frightening. If this legislation becomes law, criminals will essentially be able to do whatever they want whenever they want without fear of any repercussions. The Democrats supporting this bill are unhinged and have lost all sense of reality. This legislation will lead to more crime, more victims, and more violence in our communities. Government needs to be protecting the innocent instead of giving criminals a license to commit crimes.”
State Representative Adam Niemerg is running as a write-in candidate in the Republican Party Primary. The Primary Election is March 19th.
