The National Weather Service in Lincoln, has issued a WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 6 AM TO NOON CST WEDNESDAY for Logan-De Witt-Piatt-Champaign-Vermilion-Cass-Menard-Scott-Morgan-Sangamon-Christian-Macon-Moultrie-Douglas-Coles-Edgar and Shelby counties
Including the cities of Tuscola, Jacksonville, Charleston, Sullivan, Paris, Winchester, Beardstown, Decatur, Lincoln, Petersburg, Springfield, Clinton, Champaign, Mattoon, Shelbyville, Urbana, Monticello, Taylorville, and Danville
* WHAT…Freezing rain expected. Total ice accumulations of a light glaze.
* WHERE…Portions of central, east central, and west central Illinois, mainly north of I-70 and south of a Beardstown to Danville line.
* WHEN…From 6 AM to noon CST Wednesday.
* IMPACTS…Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Temperatures are expected to rise above freezing by midday, ending the icing threat.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS… Be prepared for slippery roads. Slow down and use caution while driving. If you are going outside, watch your first few steps taken on stairs, sidewalks, and driveways. These surfaces could be icy and slippery, increasing your risk of a fall and injury.
