Peoples Bank & Trust Contributes $5,000 To Arcola Broomcorn Palace
Pana, Ill. – April 4, 2025 – Peoples Bank & Trust is proud to announce that it recently donated $5,000 to assist with the construction costs and ongoing management of the Arcola Broomcorn Palace. This donation was part of the bank’s $20,000 pledge to the project in downtown Arcola.
Peoples Bank & Trust President and CEO, John Gardner stated, “Being a part of a community means helping to make a positive impact for the individuals and organizations in those communities. With our pledge to this project, Peoples Bank & Trust is solidifying our commitment to the Arcola and surrounding communities.”
As most people in Douglas County and the surrounding area know, Arcola, is historically recognized as the “Broomcorn Capital of the World,” and remains a significant hub for the broom-making industry. It is home to the Libman Company, the largest broom manufacturer in the United States. With a well-established reputation as a tourist destination, Arcola boasts a variety of lodging options, dining establishments, and retail shops that contribute to its vibrant economy.
The construction of the Arcola Broomcorn Palace is nearing completion, with an anticipated opening this summer. The new attraction is expected to draw visitors to the area, further enhancing the community’s economic landscape.
