Illinois State Police Conduct Special Traffic Enforcement Patrols as Part of ‘Click It or Ticket’ Campaign
PESOTUM – Illinois State Police (ISP) Troop 7 Commander Heather Apperson announces the results of Special Traffic Enforcement Patrols (STEPs) held in Champaign, Macon and Vermilion counties during May. STEPs allow the ISP to focus on the fatal four violations that contribute to the majority of traffic crashes and fatalities: impaired driving, occupant restraint, speeding, and distracted driving.

Occupant Restraint Offenses: 22
Driving Under the Influence (DUI) Offenses: 2
Speed Offenses: 206
Distracted Driving Offenses: 2
Total Offenses/Arrests: 313
Total Written Warnings: 26
Driving the posted speed limit, sober, not distracted, and buckled up will save your life and the lives of many others. This project is funded through the Illinois Department of Transportation.
