Embarras River Basin Agency (ERBA) Awarded $30,000 Grant to Support Critical Home Repairs for Rural Veterans
Greenup, IL — September 18, 2025
The Embarras River Basin Agency (ERBA) Housing Counseling Department is proud to announce it has been awarded a $30,000 grant through the 2025 Affordable Housing for Rural Veterans (AHRV) Initiative, a program administered by the Housing Assistance Council (HAC) with generous support from The Home Depot Foundation.
These funds will be used to provide critical health and safety home roof repairs for three rural, low-income veterans residing within ERBA’s nine-county service area, which includes Clark, Coles, Crawford, Cumberland, Douglas, Edgar, Jasper, Lawrence, and Richland counties.
“Veterans in rural areas often face unique barriers to safe and stable housing,” said Sandy Deters, Housing Counseling Coordinator at ERBA. “This funding will allow us to address urgent roof repair needs that directly impact quality of life and help ensure our local veterans can safely remain in their homes.”
The AHRV Initiative supports nonprofit housing organizations in their efforts to serve veterans living in rural communities through affordable housing activities, including critical repairs. ERBA is honored to be selected for this initiative and remains deeply committed to serving those who have served our country.
Veterans or family members interested in applying for assistance can contact Sandy Deters ERBA’s Housing Counseling Coordinator at 217-331-7031 or email sandyd@erbainc.org eligibility information.
