Mattoon Theater to Reopen
VIP Cinemas to offer more food offerings and new projection and sound
MATTOON, ILLINOIS- VIP Cinemas is excited to announce the reopening of the shuttered 10-screen theater complex located in Mattoon, Illinois off Route 16 and I-57.
The theater, which has been vacant since late summer, was built by Kerasotes Theatres in 1995 and most recently operated as an AMC Theater. VIP Cinemas plans to reopen the theater before the year is over with an increased menu, low prices, and increased hours of operation. VIP will have movies as early as 10am with late shows on the weekend.
“Initially, we are focusing on making repairs, replacing projection and sound equipment for a high-quality viewing experience, and plan to make changes over the next year,” explains Josh Ward, Director of Operations for VIP Cinemas. “We’re excited to bring back life to a theater that is a huge part of the community. Everyone we’ve talked with in the area has been relieved to hear their favorite, local movie-going spot is reopening.”
The theater will operate as “VIP Mattoon 10” and will offer an extended hot-food menu with snacks such as chicken tenders, pizzas, and hot dogs. At Mattoon 10, VIP Cinemas will emphasize its core company values of maximizing cleanliness, customer service, and guest value. Starting in 2026, VIP will begin making more changes to the theater such as investing in new seats and more movie offerings.
The address for VIP Mattoon 10 is 2509 Hurst Drive Mattoon, Illinois 61938
