BASE Program Hosts Free Youth Workshops at Mattoon Public Library
Mattoon, IL — The Hour House BASE Program is bringing festive creativity to the Mattoon community this holiday season with a series of free, hands-on youth workshops at the Mattoon Public Library, 1600 Charleston Ave. Children ages 10 and up are invited to explore their imaginations, develop new crafting skills, and create unique winter-themed projects to take home. All supplies will be provided at no cost. These free events will be held at the library from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on December 22 and 26, 2025, and January 2, 2026.
The series includes:
📅 December 22, 2025 — Ornament Constructing
Participants will design and build their own holiday ornaments using beads, pipe cleaners, and decorative papers. Kids can personalize each ornament with their own creative flair. All materials will be provided.
📅 December 26, 2025 — Holiday Rock Painting
Youth will paint festive, winter-themed scenes onto smooth crafting rocks. From snowy landscapes to cheerful holiday characters, the possibilities are endless. All materials will be provided.
📅 January 2, 2026 — Paper Snowflake Crafting
Youth will learn folding and cutting techniques to create beautiful, intricate paper snowflakes in a variety of patterns and styles. All materials will be provided.

Free Youth Workshops at Mattoon Public Library are open to the public. Youth may attend a single workshop or the whole series! Registration is not required, but space may be limited. All supplies are included. Funding provided in whole or in part by the Illinois Department of Human Services.
