Teutopolis is grieving the loss of one of their own. 16-year-old John Breer died in a car crash yesterday. According to authorities, John’s vehicle went off 875th Road, about a mile east of Route 45, and into Salt Creek. The Effingham County Dive Team pulled John from the wreckage, but despite efforts to save him, Breer was pronounced dead at 6:05 at the hospital. Investigators with the Illinois State Police Traffic Reconstruction Unit are working to piece together what led to the crash.
