Illinois Supreme Court Upholds Drew Peterson’s Conviction
(Springfield, IL) — Drew Peterson isn’t getting out of prison and he’s not getting a new trial. The Illinois Supreme Court yesterday upheld Peterson’s conviction for killing his third wife back in 2004. Prosecutors presented hearsay evidence about her death, as well as the disappearance of his fourth wife at his trial. Peterson said that violates his constitutional right to confront his accusers. The court said the hearsay can stand because there is evidence that Peterson killed his accusers to keep them from testifying against him. Peterson is serving a 78-year sentence.
