(Las Vegas, NV) — President Trump describes Sunday night’s shooting massacre in Las Vegas as an act of cruel evil. Visiting Vegas today, Trump called the U.S. a nation in mourning. He said hope can always be found in the depths of horror. Trump praised the cops, paramedics and civilian heroes who rushed to help victims of the shooting at an outdoor concert. He noted that many heroes ran through a hail of bullets in order to help others. The President also praised the character, courage and resolve of the people of Nevada.
Trump said the U.S. cannot be defined by the “evil that threatens us or the violence that incites such terror.” The President and First Lady also met with some victims and families at the University Medical Center. Trump heaped praise on the doctors and nurses who treated hundreds of shooting victims. Police are still trying to find a motive after 64-year-old Stephen Paddock killed at least 58 people. It was the worst mass shooting in U.S. history. The shooter took his own life. The President called him a very sick and demented man.
