Eagles Hold Off Panthers On TNF
(Charlotte, NC) — A turnover filled game for Cam Newton helped the Eagles beat the Panthers, 28-23, at Bank of America Stadium on “Thursday Night Football.” Carson Wentz threw for 222 yards and three touchdowns, two to tight end Zach Ertz. Philadelphia is in first place in the NFC East at 5-and-1. Newton was intercepted three times, including one on the Eagles’ side of the field late in the fourth quarter. He attempted 52 passes and threw one touchdown, but did lead Carolina in rushing with 71 yards. Christian McCaffrey and Jonathan Stewart combined to run for four yards on 12 carries. The Panthers are 4-and-2.
