UPDATE: White House Issues Response To NYC Attack
(New York, NY) — President Trump says his thoughts and prayers are with the victims of today’s suspected terrorist attack in New York City that left at least eight people dead. In a White House statement, the President pledged his administration’s full support to the New York City Police Department, including through a joint investigation into the incident by the FBI. Trump thanked the first responders who stopped the suspect and rendered aid to the victims of what he called a “cowardly attack.” He said those responders embody the “true American spirit of resilience and courage.”
Earlier, the President wrote on Twitter, “Looks like another attack by a very sick and deranged person. Law enforcement is following this closely. NOT IN THE USA!” In a second tweet he wrote, “We must not allow ISIS to return, or enter, our country after defeating them in the Middle East and elsewhere. Enough!”

He’s believed to be a lawful permanent resident with a green card. He was shot by police after allegedly running over several people with a truck in Lower Manhattan, leaving at least eight dead.
